Patients can't book what they can't use.
Your website is often a patient's first step into care: finding hours, booking a visit, filling in intake forms, logging into the portal. For patients who are blind, have low vision, or can't use a mouse, every one of those steps can be a wall.
What we check on practice websites
- Online booking and request-an-appointment flows, start to finish, with a keyboard and a screen reader
- Intake and new-patient forms: labels, required-field cues, and error messages that get announced
- Links into patient portals and payment pages, named clearly so patients know where they're going
- Service and treatment pages with real headings and readable contrast
- Before-and-after galleries and videos with text descriptions and captions
- Phone numbers and addresses as real, tappable text, not inside images
The regulatory picture
Medical practices are places of public accommodation under the ADA, and courts look to WCAG 2.1 AA when judging websites. Separately, a 2024 rule from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services adopts WCAG 2.1 AA for organizations that receive HHS federal financial assistance, with deadlines in 2026 and 2027 depending on size. Your attorney or compliance advisor can tell you which rules apply to your practice. We make sure the website side is done right and documented.
Part of a bigger relationship
Practices usually come to us for growth: a better website, new service lines, ads that can run in healthcare. Accessibility is part of doing that well. We build it into every page and campaign we touch, so you don't end up paying twice.
From the owners we work with.
“Albert takes care of the parts of the practice's digital side we don't have time for: the website, the patient-facing details, even the certification paperwork that comes with advertising in healthcare. Albert treats our practice like a partner, not a client.”
Common questions.
- Those are run by your EHR vendor, so we can't change them. We test the path from your website into the portal, make sure the links are clear, and give patients an alternative way to reach you if the portal lets them down.
